Kellen - 4 Months!

Kellen had his 4 month well child check in on November 28, 2012 At 4 Months: 11/28/2012 Weight: 12.3 lbs (5%) Height: 25 inches (52%) Head: 16 (12%) At 2 Months: 10/09/2012 Weight: 12.6 lbs (49%) Height: 23 3/4 inches (64%) Head: 12 1/2 (22%) As you can tell Kellen actually lost weight since his two month appointment. He will be "officially" diagnosed with "failure to thrive" if he has not gained any weight...Our goal over the next two months is to feed him on demand more often (when we are together), give him one extra 5 oz bottle at daycare each day, and he allowed me to begin rice cereal at 4 months, and begin introducing more solid "baby food" at 5 months. Since I am writing this so late, he has tried rice cereal, peaches, peas, and now pears. Next up are prunes and sweet potatoes...

Two Months!

Wow! I have obviously neglected the blog lately! Kellen Kellen had his Two Month Well Baby check-up yesterday. Stats: Two Months (10/09/2012) Weight: 12.6 lbs (49%) Height: 23 3/4 in (64%) Head: 15 1/2 (22%) Stats: Two Weeks (8/13/2012) Weight: 8.10 lbs (50%) Height: 21 1/4 in (75%) Head: 14 1/4 25% He received the following vaccinations: Hib Pediarix Pneumo Rotavirus He is now smiling, cooing, grasping objects with his hands, alert, and showing amazing head control. He has also scooting around in his crib (I am constantly changing the monitor view) and rolling over onto his sides. He also is a wonderful sleeper! He wakes once during the night around 2:30 to eat and immediately goes back to sleep. The last week he has even started to sleep a little longer, no complaints here! Delaney Delaney enjoyed her very first sleep over at Ava Logan's house last Friday. She had way too much. Shannon (Ava's mom) reported Delaney stayed up well past Ava (she is five) watching movies and eating popcorn until she finally fell asleep. She never asked for us once, but was excited to see us the next morning. She is really enjoying having her baby brother at daycare. I started back to work when Kellen was 8 weeks (well in my office anyway since I worked from home during my leave). She started her music classes with the Boise Philharmonic music program and her dance classes (tap and ballet) at Kennedy School of Dance. Her best friends of the moment are: Ava (her dad, Jason attended BSU with Jeff and is part of our tailgating group), Molly (from daycare), and Logan (lives next door). Us Like I said I am back at work full time in the office now. I am so glad to be back and judging from the welcome I received when I returned, everyone is elated to have me back in the office as well! This is our busiest time of year-budget and contract season! Once things have settled after the new year, I am working with my supervisor on some exciting new job opportunities that I will take on. Jeff is busy at work with multiple projects, including one of the properties that I assist in managing. We are getting one of the new Walmart neighborhood markets (just sells groceries, nothing else) and he is helping us upgrade the parking lot for the project.

One Week Old!

It is hard to believe that Kellen is One Week Old tomorrow! We are absolutely in love with the new addition to our family. Delaney has a few fits here and there, but overall she has taken on her new role as big sister quite nicely. Anytime Kellen cries, she comes over to him and says "Don't worry, sissy's here" and she loves to sing him lullabies. Friday we have a photo shoot with Jen Schow (thanks for the recommendation Danielle Dahlberg), if you want to check out her website, here is the link: http://jenschow.com/main.php, or her blog at: http://jenschow.com/blog/

Two Day Well Baby Check Up!

On Monday July 30th, Kellen had his two day check-in. He got his umbilical cord clamp removed and we met with a lactation consultant at his office to discuss an issue I had with him latching. Now we are breastfeeding successfully! Here are the stats from his first appointment: Length:19 3/4 inches Weight: 7 lbs Head: 13 3/4 inches At Birth: Length: 21 inches Weight: 7lbs 5 oz Head: 13.5 inches His next appointment will be his two week well baby check-in on Monday, August 13th which will include his circumcision. Thank you to everyone for the visits and well wishes!

Kellen Hendricks-Birth Recap!

Last Thursday (7/26) was my due date, I was tired of being pregnant--my maternity leave had already begun and it had been so hot in Boise...I was done. I actually broke down and cried (which if you know me, I do not cry). I decided to call it a day and went to bed. I had fallen asleep with the TV on and suddenly I woke up about the same time Last Call with Carson Daly came on with contractions. They were coming about every 7 minutes and lucky for me, I was yet again experiencing back labor head on (had it with Delaney too). I decided to take a bath to help my back, that lasted about 15 minutes and I was over the bath idea. My contractions were now coming every 4 minutes. I tried yoga moves, a birthing ball, etc at home to help ease my back pain and decided when I could no longer talk through my contractions that I needed to wake up Jeff and have him call the doctor. He called and they told us to head on in. Nancy (Jeff's mom) came over in the middle of the night for Delaney (and our dogs) and we were in the car ready to go when she arrived. We got to the hospital and I was almost dilated to a 5 upon check-in. The contractions were very intense and I was so glad to see a friendly face (Ms. Tanja Gaskins, a family friend of ours who works in labor and delivery), she had found out that I checked in and stopped in to see me. Pretty soon, my friend and birth partner, Marcie Lake arrived to experience the birth of Kellen. Background of Marcie. She met me while I was working at Williams Sonoma, she came in to talk with me periodically and appreciated my customer service skills...and eventually offered me a job at Colliers International, she introduced me to Property Management and my future career. That was 5 1/2 years ago. Marcie and her husband Curt recently adopted a baby girl, Lila back in March. Finally realizing her dream of becoming a mom! She attended several of my doctor appointments including my very first ultrasound. Marcie was great during labor, she let me squeeze her hands before I received my epidural, watched me throw up several times, and probably saw much more of me than she ever imagined she would. She held my leg while I pushed and even watched Kellen's head come out (I didn't even care to watch but she was amazed). So Thank you Marcie Lake for being a part of Kellen's special day! Kellen Hendricks was born at 11:11 A.M. on Friday, July 27th. Coincidentally, #11 was Kellen Moore's number at Boise State. A little scary with the umbilical cord wrapped around his shoulder and no cries coming from him at first...but he was given a 9.5 out of 10 on his Apgar score and I think he was perfect! He didn't have the newborn wrinkles but clear skin. Kellen Hendricks Ward Length: 21 inches (the vacuum was used to pull him out, but didn't have a cone) Weight: 7lbs 5 oz Head Circumference: 13.5 inches

Almost 39 Week Update!

Jeff and attended a lovely wedding in Hidden Springs (creepy Stepford Town overlooking Boise) on Saturday evening, so Delaney spent the night at Dave and Nancy's. She came home Sunday afternoon and we kind of just hung around the house all day while I cleaned (love using nesting as an excuse to clean)... I started getting some pretty good contractions going and was really hoping that I was going to go into labor that night (even though Jeff said he would feel bad if Kellen had to share his birthday). We ended up in Labor and Delivery once the contractions hit the point my doctor suggested to come in, that was about 11 PM. Well Kellen had his own ideas and my contractions stopped, so we decided to go home instead of inducing. Left the hospital at about 1:30 A.M. Was 65% effaced and about 2 cm dialated. I stayed home from work yesterday to get some sleep and continue nesting (I did eight loads of laundry, grocery shopping, and other errands). I am back at work today with more contractions coming...so hopefully he decides to make his entrance very soon! My next doctor appointment is tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18th.

Kellen Hendricks!

Well I have pretty much given in to Jeff and we are planning to name the baby boy "Kellen Hendricks" which in case you are not followers of Boise State Football--Kellen for Kellen Moore (former Boise State Quarterback) and Hendricks for Bart Hendricks (also a former Boise State Quarterback). I figure with as much time as we spend and how much our lives revolve around Boise State Football, it would fit. Watch, he will HATE football... However, as a disclaimer I would also like to say that I do have a few weeks after he is born to legally file the name paper work...just in case he is born and does not look like a Kellen!

36 weeks!

I am going to dump a bunch of pictures today because I am getting so behind on posting. I will post some pictures of Disneyland, my most updated belly photo, hopefully get some pictures of the baby's room, etc before I forget. We had a pretty busy weekend. I took Friday off to give my temp the opportunity to have a day without me there to ask questions, she actually did much better than expected, so that gives me a little relief. I also had my 36 week Dr. Appt. that morning. I am currently dialted between 1 and 2 cm and 50% effaced, which doesn't necessarily mean anything-it could mean I could deliver today or weeks from now. But according to my chart from my pregnancy with Delaney that is exactly where I was the day before I went into labor with her. Also, baby is head down and low, "engaged" and ready for delivery! Friday evening we attended a Boise Hawks game with Jeff's office (CSHQA). We had a great time, but it was a long day! Saturday, Delaney had a birthday party to attend for her friend Molly. So Jeff and I ran errands and had lunch together. We decided to get a few things done around our house. We bought new hardware (goodbye ugly brass!) in brushed nickel for the entire house except the front door (we will be replacing it along with a new door shortly). By Sunday I was exhausted! I have some pretty bad cramping in my belly and my back, so I pretty much stayed in bed all day (as you know this is something I NEVER do). Delaney also got a "new to her" swing set courtesy of one of Jeff's co-workers, so she was pretty excited about it. So enjoy the pictures and I will let everyone know when the baby gets here.

29 Weeks!

I had my one hour glucose test yesterday...I still do not understand why women complain about this. If you have one in your future and there are options for flavors, go for the lemon lime (the fruit punch and orange are very sweet) and chug it! For those of you who do not know what this is...you are given a drink, you wait for an hour, then they test your blood to see if you have gestational diabetes. I passed! My belly is measuring a little small-at 27 1/2 weeks, but it is similar to my measurements with Delaney. I have now gained 10 pounds, I swear it is all in my boobs! I am posting a new belly picture today, but seriously how big are the boobs going to get? I am currently a 34 I/J (yes it is possible) and when the breastfeeding starts, it will only be worse. That is my top complaint, mostly because of the weight which is now causing my spine to curve (lovely!) This happened during my pregnancy with Delaney as well. Thankfully this will be my last pregnancy and two years from now the boobs will be an ancient memory. That's right, I will be getting a breast reduction as soon as my doctor gives the okay! (Sorry for ranting...) His heart beat was a high 146 this time! My doctor gave me strict orders to slow down on the exercising. I have starting getting contractions while on the treadmill, so I was told to minimize my exercises from 40 minutes to 20 minutes. I asked if this extended to house cleaning since I get contractions then too, he said yes, but would not write a prescription to have a maid come and clean my house. Boo! But I obviously would rather have the baby stay in for as long as he needs versus delivering early, so I will listen. This is a big week for our family! Tuesday was Delaney's last music class for the summer (her recital is Tuesday, May 22nd-I will post pictures/video), today is her last ballet and tap class (rehearsal is tomorrow evening/recital on Saturday), and then on Sunday we leave for Disneyland! We are all so excited to go! Next Saturday is also my 30th birthday (and Curt Lake's birthday)--no Allison, I still have not decided how we should celebrate! Hope you have enjoyed! I will post pictures from the recital and Disneyland shortly...

Almost 25 weeks!

This pregnancy is going by very fast! I am almost 25 weeks at this point and had another doctor appointment this morning. "The Boy" as I am calling him until I decide on a name is growing fast judging from my weight gain at this point and has a heart beat of 142 today. He was moving around so much my doctor, Bryan Hodges, was wondering what the heck he was doing in there! He was still breech, so hopefully he decides to turn BEFORE he gets much bigger because Delaney turned at the very end and it was not comfortable. Everything looks good at this point, I have gained almost 8 pounds and my next appointment is scheduled for Wednesday May 9th--One Hour Glucose Test! I will post my enormous belly picture soon!

Easter Sunday!

I will post a few pictures from Easter Sunday! Delaney had three Easter egg hunts: one at our house, one at Uncle Brett's baseball field before his game, and another one at Grandma and Papa's. She got lots of candy (and money) at all three, along with three huge Easter baskets full of goodies. What a lucky girl!

Special thank you to Aunt Karin and Uncle Mike who send Delaney the super cute "twirly" dress and jellies she is wearing in the pictures. We had already bought her a dress, but she loved this one and wore it instead!

Thank you to everyone that also sent Delaney special gifts for Easter as well, thank you cards for those gifts and birthdays are en route this week!

Four Year Well-Child Check-in!

Here are her results from Delaney's Four Year Well-Child Check-in:

Height: 37 inches (5th percentile)

Everything looks great! She is On/Above Target on any developmental tests and she received FOUR vaccines this trip...she is now covered for vaccines (minus her annual flu shot/mist) until she turns 11. Jeff's mom, Nancy held her while she received her "pokes" and she was good to go!

Delaney's 4th Birthday Party!

Delaney celebrated her Fourth Birthday on March 23rd! Festivities began on Thursday when the celebrated her birthday at "the kids house" aka Daycare. She was given a party, cupcakes and ice cream, and a gift from the daycare. On Friday, I took off work early and picked her up right before lunch and we spent the afternoon together and got the house ready for her party. We went to dinner with Jeff's parents and Uncle Brett at her favorite restaurant...Red Robin!
The next morning was her birthday party with friends-Keaton and Josie Dahlberg (Mike and Danielle), Ava and Jillian Logan (Jason), Neisha Gaskins (Tim), new friend Lila (Curt and Marcie), Laila Maqbool, and Allison Hernandez! We had a full house and luckily a beautiful, warm day! We set up a bouncy house in our backyard for all the kids to enjoy. In the evening, Jeff's Grandma Leona, Jeff's parents Dave and Nancy, Jeff's brother Brett and his girlfriend Hayley came over for dinner and cake/ice cream. It was a long but fun day and we all had a wonderful time! Delaney has become fascinated with Brett's girlfriend Hayley (and who can blame her), she sat on Hayley's lap almost the entire evening!
All in all it was a fantastic weekend! I also posted a 22 week belly picture!
Enjoy!

It's a Boy!

We had our ultrasound on Thursday and it is a boy! We are all pretty excited! Delaney and I went to Baby Gap yesterday and bought the baby a new wardrobe and packed up all the newborn clothes to take over to our friends Curt and Marcie who adopted a little girl named Lila Epperson Lake almost a week ago. We got to meet her today and Delaney is excited to show her around at her birthday party next Saturday. She will be 4!

I have posted a few ultrasound videos and I will post more pictures from Delaney's party next weekend. Enjoy!

Lots of new pictures!

Just posted lots of new pictures, including: a belly picture, Delaney making dinner, and of Jeff's lovely achilles incision (in case you didn't see this already on Facebook). I will not be posting belly pictures on Facebook (because I read many people find them annoying), so you will find them only here!

We will find out the baby's gender and make sure everything is looking alright next Thursday, March 15th! After this appointment, we will be running (well I will run--ha,ha) Jeff to another post-op appointment to have his achilles checked on again...so we will not post the results of the ultrasound until after we get home that night. Also, we are absolutely no where near picking out a name just in case you were wondering...Enjoy!

Big Announcement!

Jeff and I are expecting again! I am now about 11 weeks along and have been to the doctor to verify everything. We are very excited about adding one more to our family, but nobody is as excited as the Big Sister, Delaney! She is over the moon (for now anyway)...she wants to rub and kiss my belly, and she tells us how helpful she will be when the baby comes-she wants to hold, feed, and change the baby. She will be almost 4 1/2 years old when the baby arrives (Due Date is July 27th), so we will see how helpful she is and how much she likes to share the attention!

Ultrasound pictures from my first (and only, so far) Doctor's Appointment, to follow...as will belly pictures, because you will not believe how big my belly is compared to my first pregnancy!

More Halloween Pictures.

Danielle (my co-worker, Keaton's mom) shared some photos she took of the two of them at my office's trick or treat! Here are some photos. I mentioned to Danielle it looks like Keaton was trying to make a move on Delaney and she shot him back a dirty look. That's my girl!

Thornton Oliver Keller Holiday Party!

My office held our Holiday Party at the Idaho Botanical Gardens last Friday. We had fun! It was a very cold, very windy day--but luckily our canopy held up and we had a blast. Delaney had a great time with Keaton (a co-worker's son) playing in the dirt, visiting Santa, and looking at the lights.

First bicycle ride!

Delaney got her very first bike. She was very specific about the type of bike she wanted. It had to have princesses on it and somewhere to put her baby Beckett! I found just the bike and she told everyone on the way out of the store that it was her bike. She loves to ride around the neighborhood!

Swim Lessons Have Begun!

Delaney started swim lessons on Monday with her daycare chums. She told us she wanted to swim like a dolphin before they began, but she tells us she swims like Little Mermaid. She cannot wait to finish swim lessons because Papa will take her out in his boat!

Trip to the Boise Zoo Part II!

We took Delaney to the Boise Zoo. It had been over a year since our last visit. She had so much fun. She got to feed a giraffe lettuce with Mommy! We also visited the Butterfly Exhibit which was a room FULL of butterflies! So fun...and a little creepy to have them fly around!

Trip to the Boise Zoo!

First trip to the dentist!!

Delaney had her very first visit to the dentist last Tuesday, July 12th! Of course it was a great visit considering she had Grandma Nancy to clean her teeth. Afterward she told me that she loved her clean teeth!

We flew back to Seattle and surprised my family for Christmas this year! Everyone was so excited to see us and nobody had a clue we were coming (except Dad and Andy who helped me plan it out!) We had a great time but didn't take pictures...sorry!

Steam Locomotive!

The Union Pacific Steam Locomotive #844. The last one to be built for Union Pacific came into Nampa. Since Papa Dave works for Union Pacific, we went out to see it. Delaney loves trains so she was very excited to see Papa's choo-choo!

Back from Washington D.C.

Jeff and I went to Washington D.C. to see Boise State take on Virginia Tech at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins. We took in all the sights and ate some great food, but nothing compared to the win over Virginia Tech! Final score was 33-30! We had great seats-we sat with the players and coaches families and were only four rows up from the field!
It was also my first trip away from Delaney-a whole week! She stayed behind with Grandma Nancy and Papa Dave. She did fine, and so did I!

Tony and Mary Pislaan.

We were in Seattle the weekend of August 28th to watch Mary and Tony get married. I was a bridesmaid and Delaney was the flower girl. She did really well until we got under the gazebo for the wedding. She told us she "had to go poopy". So embarassing, Jeff came up and took her away. of course she didn't need to go...
It was a beautiful wedding and it was great to see old faces-Heather Halsey from the neighborhood, Jeremy Walked-Andy's BFF since Preschool, and Mary's friends from high school. It was a great weekend and beautiful weather!

Laney's Big Girl Bed!

I have been off of work most of this week so I have done a few things around the house.
Delaney has a new "big girl" bed. I converted her crib into a toddler bed. Boy was she happy. The excitement quickly wore off and she creeps out of her room a half dozen times through the night and ends up in our bed. Hopefully this wears off soon.....
I had lunch with my friend Allison at the Flatbread Pizza Company-great place to eat especially on the patio to celebrate my birthday.
Thursday, Delaney and I started making our Father's Day gifts for the grandpas and we planted a few new flowers in front of the house.
Enjoy the pictures....

She has another optional visit at 2 1/2 years otherwise we don't have to go back until 3 years.

She is done with all of her vaccinations (except seasonal flu shots) until kindergarten!!! That seems so far away, but yet so close! She is growing so fast!

Out to dinner with Victor and Allison.

The other night we joined our friends Victor and Allison for dinner at our new favorite restaurant, Brick 29 Bistro. It is in a really cool, old Masonic building. We celebrated Allison's birthday a little early since Delaney and I will be in Seattle for the real one! Now if only we can convince Vic and Al to come along with us to Washington DC this fall. Hint, hint....

Baseball time again.....

It is baseball time again! Delaney's Uncle Brett plays baseball at his college, College of Idaho (formerly Albertson College of Idaho). So we went out to watch a practice scrimmage yesterday in the cold. We took a picture of him up to bat.

Valentine Pictures.

I have been trying to snap some great pictures of Delaney for her Valentine's, but like a normal toddler, she is not being very cooperative. So I think I got one of her last night that I can use. I hope it is a good one. Meanwhile, enjoy some of the "bloopers".

Christmas!

Delaney got everything and more than she wanted for Christmas this year. She got lots of new books, a play kitchen with food, a table and chairs set, and lots of great new toys. She loves all of her Little People sets!

She is saying so many new words. We have learned if we don't want to hear her repeat something we cannot say it around her because she is repeating EVERYTHING. Her favorites thanks to Jeff are Jerk, Creep, and thanks to me, she has learned the phrase "I broke it".

She also loves to be mommy's little helper these days and pulls her chair up to the counter when I am cooking in the kitchen. Right now as a type, she has her chair pulled up to the door of the office trying to open the door and turn on/off the lights.

She is getting so big!

Tailgating for BSU vs. Miami-Ohio!

Delaney and I decided to join Jeff for our first tailgate of the season! She did really well until right after the game started (of course). Then she was done! But she made it 11:30-6:30 with no naps and only a little breakdown. Then she was excited to have more kids join and she was good to go!

You Voted!

Delaney will be a butterfly for Halloween! I will post a picture of her new costume soon! As for now, I am trying to teach her "trick or treat".

Visit from Family!

We had a visit from two of my uncles and their families a few weekends ago....my Uncle John and cousin Matthew (from Montana) and my Uncle David and Aunt Tammy and their son Trevor (from Washington).
Matthew was playing in the Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament in Meridian and David and his family drove through on their way to Yellowstone. It was nice to see everyone and we enjoyed watching Matthew's game!
Thank you again to David and Tammy for breakfast at The Griddle. It is a very cool-vintage restaurant in Boise. Check it out when you can!

Happy Birthday Lyla Belle!

Just a little shout out to Lyla Belle! She is 4 years old on Sunday, August 9th!

A New Job....Finally!

As some of you may know I have started a new job in Boise. I am working at Old Navy offset from Boise Towne Square. While I swore I would never go back to retail full-time, as I was nearing the end of my first round of unemployment, opportunity knocked and I decided to take a chance and see.
I began working there on Monday, July 27 and I will begin my third full week there tomorrow. Surprisingly the benefits are still awesome there (I previously worked for Gap, Inc for 5 1/2 years).
So I am hoping that I will enjoy working there!

Using the Potty Already????

Apparently Delaney is becoming very interested in using a big girl potty now. Her daycare instructors told me she was interested in how the bigger kids were using the bathroom. Jeff tried it out on Thursday night and she is all about it! They went and bought a potty seat and she loves it. So we are going to work with her and see how she progresses. We bought some training pants and we will give it a shot.

Pink Eye!

Delaney's eye was very red on Saturday evening and Sunday morning it did not look any better. So we took her in for her very first Doctor appointment (outside of Well-baby visits). Sure enough, she has pink eye and an upper respiratory infection! Here is a picture of her red eye, not the best, but it is hard to get a good shot!

Fun in the Backyard.....

With temperatures rising in the Treasure Valley, Delaney has decided she loves the backyard. Here are some pictures of her playing around the pool (she screams when you set her inside). There are also some great pictures of the dogs! Enjoy!

4th of July!

After spending an evening at the Gaskins for the 4th of July. We came home very late and got Delaney settled. I woke up about an hour later (1 AM) to a loud humming noise. I checked out a back window and there was a fire in the planned (it is deserted mostly) neighborhood behind ours! Here is a picture in the side bar of the fire peaking over the fence. We were not too worried about the fire spreading since we have a ditch bank and common area between us. There were three fire engines that responded to the fire.
Jeff and I checked it out the next day and it chared one section of grass were homes were to be built (the developer is in foreclosure). It appeared to have been started by those little tanks because we found several nearby.

New Car/New Car Seat....

We finally traded in Red Truck (Jeff's F-150) and got something new. While I am currently staying at home with Delaney-the gas and getting in/out of the vehicle has not been very fun. I love my new car and even took it on a road trip up to Seattle last week.

Delaney also got a snazzy new car seat! Pictures to the side!

On the Blue!

Today we went on a tour of Boise State's stadium along with Sue, a co-worker of Jeff's. We got to tour the Hall of Fame Gallery and get to walk/take pictures on The Blue. Here are some photos of the day. The tours began on June 6 and last until August 12 from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM with the exception of July 4 and Sundays. They are self-guided in case anyone else is the area is interested!

15 Month Well Baby Check-Up!

Delaney had her 15 Month Check Up this morning! She is doing very well and is beginning to use her 18 Month Motor/Coordination Skills such as using a spoon while eating. Dr. Archibald said she looks very good and here are her current stats:

Date: 6/26/2009
Weight: 19 lbs 13.5 oz (5th%)
Length: 30 1/4 " (50th%)
Head: 45 1/2 cm (45th%)

He was glad to see that she went up 2 % in her weight category. She also had a heal prick and another DTaP vaccine. She has been resting peacefully since we returned home.

Her next appointment is at 18 Months scheduled for Friday, September 25th!

Sorry no new posts!

Sorry I have had no new posts in awhile. I have been busy looking for a job, traveling to Seattle every month to visit my family, etc.
I finally got around to posting pictures-from Easter to Memorial Day!
We had a visit from the Gaskins over for Memorial Day. Jeff smoked brisket and ribs for the occasion and we had a great time visiting with them! Thank you again guys!
Well hopefully we will have more to report and I can keep up with the blog again.

One Year Well Baby Check-up!

Delaney had her one year check-up today and these are her current stats:

At One Year:
3/27/09
Weight: 17 lbs 13.5 oz 3%
Length: 28 inches 25%
Head: 44 1/2 cm 45%

At 9 months:
1/9/09
Weight: 16 lbs 1.5 oz 10%
Length: 26 3/4 inches 25%
Head: 43 1/2 cm 50%

As you can tell her weight has slowly been dropping over the last few months. We will wait until her next doctor appointment at 15 months and assess why she is not putting on weight per her doctor's instructions.

She received four vaccinations today-MMR, Varicella (Chickenpox), Hib (Haemophilus influenzae) and Prevnar (Pneumococcal).

While we were waiting to see her doctor, she took a few more steps. She has also begun saying "no" and "uh-oh". She has also learned to shake her head no and is starting to learn "please".

Baby Steps.....

Today while Delaney and I were playing with her toys on the floor, I tested her walking skills and let go of her hands and she took four steps toward me and ended with a big hug!
I tried to re-create the event so I could catch in on my phone or camera but she would not comply. Hopefully we can catch it to post soon!

First Birthday Party a Success!

Delaney had a great First Birthday Party! Even without a nap all day she managed to play with all of her friends and her many new toys! We had Jeff's parents, Dave and Nancy, his brother Brett, his Grandma Leona and his Grandma and Grandad over along with some of our friends.
I posted some of the pictures in the side bar for all to enjoy!

First Birthday Party!

Can you believe Delaney is almost ONE? That time is rolling around. She will be "officially" be one on March 23. We had a little celebration back home with my family last weekend and this weekend, we will have another with Jeff's family and a few friends.
We will post pictures soon! Enjoy the new pictures on the side bar for now.....

Enjoying time home with Delaney....

As you may already know, I was recently laid off from my job. So Delaney and I have been having some fun at home. She still attends daycare at the request of her instructors every Tuesday, so she still gets to see them and all the kids.
Here are some pictures from our time at home! Enjoy!

Three Teeth.....

Delaney's third tooth is on its way in along with a fourth. She has two more also wanting to break through. All on top. So she may have six teeth in by her birthday!

9 MONTH WELL BABY CHECK UP!

Delaney had her 9th Month Well-Baby Check-Up on Friday, January 9th.

At 6 Months:
9/26/08
Weight: 14 lbs 12 oz 25%
Length: 24 1/2 inches 10%
Head: 41.5 cm 25%

At 9 months:
1/9/09
Weight: 16 lbs 1.5 oz 10%
Length: 26 3/4 inches 25%
Head: 43 1/2 cm 50%

So it appears her head is growing!
Just an update, she is eating "table food" now-her doctor, Dr. Archibald, gave the go-ahead to letting us "chop" our dinner up for her to eat. She loves it!
She is taking "big girl" baths now. She finally outgrew her infant bath-tub and began taking a bath with a mat underneath her. She loves being able to grab all her toys and splash around.
I promise to take some pictures this weekend! Check back soon!

Welcome Landon Andrew Johnson!

I am a little late at posting this, but we had a busy weekend!
Landon Andrew Johnson was born on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 9:11 a.m. (one day early)
He weighed 7lbs 3 oz and was 19 inches long!
Congratulations to Andy (my brother) and Heidi (sister-in-law).
I will post a picture when I get one (it may be awhile).
My parents say he looks just like Andy did when he was born!

I will post the results from Delaney's 9-Month Check-Up tonight......

First Word!

For a few months, Delaney has babbled Da, da, da.

But now we can finally call her first word:

Lyla! (She pronounces it more like Lya)

Delaney adores Lyla Belle, our littlest lab and "talks" about Lyla.

So let the record show, Delaney's First Word is Lyla!

Christmas with the Wards......

We celebrated Christmas a little early with Jeff's family since we flew out to Seattle for most of the week. Here are some photos.

Claus and Paws!

On Saturday we took Delaney to Claus and Paws at Zoo Boise. She got to see the monkeys and their new giraffe. They had Santa Claus set up, so she got to meet him for the first time (see picture). Then Uncle Brett joined us while we checked out the other animals. Delaney decided that was enough and took a nap for the rest of the trip! It was too much fun!

Later we joined friends Jason and Janice who just moved from Denver to Nampa with their little girl Marleigh. Marleigh just turned 1 in October, so Delaney had a ball playing with her! Then a little later, Jerry and Kerrie (sp?) stopped by with their daughter, also a Marleigh, who is 10 months old. They all had so much fun. Sorry I forgot to take pictures, maybe another time!

Enjoy!

Two Teeth!

Delaney has another "chomper" on the way in. The second one came up quicker than the first one. She likes to show them off and "chomp" with her jaw. It is hilarious!
I will post more pictures soon!

Two Babies?

On Sunday, Delaney got a visit from a friend. My friend Allison was so very kind to go pick up the stranded husbands when Jeff's motor home broke down on the way home from Moscow. So I watched her little boy, Mason. He is almost six months now!

I don't know how people do it with two, especially twins. They both wanted held at the same time, fed at the same time, etc. Needless to say, I was exhausted by the end of the day! But he is such a sweet baby, it was worth it!

Here are some pictures from our day!

First Tooth!

Delaney's first tooth is on its way out! I guess she was a grump at daycare all day and refused to take a nap. I checked out her gums because they were a little raw yesterday and sure enough, a tooth is coming through. Poor thing went straight to sleep after we got home!

We will post a picture when it comes through (this may take awhile).

We have a crawler!

She started crawling around...well army crawling anyway. Enjoy the video!

Halloween Preview.....

As previously mentioned, I chose a "Luck be a Ladybug" costume for Delaney to wear for her first Halloween! Here is a picture!

Any day now!

Any day now we are going to see Delaney crawl. We are so excited to witness this milestone. She gets down on all fours and rocks like she is going to do it, then she backs up. Such a silly girl.
We spent last weekend in Seattle for a whirlwind trip, it was so nice to see everyone!
This last Saturday we spent the evening at the Gaskins, where we watched the football game and Delaney wore herself out playing with Neisha! See sidebar for picture.

Headed to Sea-Town....

Delaney and I are headed off to Seattle next weekend. We are going to make a family visit and we are throwing my brother Andy and his wife Heidi a baby shower. Their baby Landon is due in January. We are so excited for them and wish them the best. We will see everyone soon!

6 Month Well Baby Visit!

Delaney had her six month well baby visit on Friday. She got her DTap (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis), Polio, Hep B, Prevnar (Pneumococcal), Rota Tep (Rotavirus), Hib, and Flu #1 shots. My goodness there are so many when you list them out!

Here are her latest stats:
Weight: 14 lbs. 12 oz. (25th percentile)
Length: 24 1/2 inches (10th percentile)
Head: 41.5 cm (25th percentile)

She is obviously short, which we hear from everyone. But look at Jeff and I? Did anyone really think she was going to be tall? She is destined to be little! Her doctor said she is perfect, but we already knew that. She is beginning to do things earlier than normal, some of her motor and developmental skills are that of a 9 month old. So apparently she is pretty smart, I will take smart over tall any day!

She spent Saturday sleeping the day away. She is normally not a napper, but she was only awake for about four hours throughout the day. So we did not get a lot of playing in...maybe tomorrow!

Such a big girl....

Delaney got a high chair this last weekend. Her bottom was beginning to be a little snug in her Bumbo and she loves to eat her solid foods, so it was inevitable that she would get one soon. She loves it.

You voted....we answered!

So we had many votes for Delaney's First Halloween Costume! Thank you to everyone who voted. We chose a lady bug! Pictures will be coming soon!

Two Firsts!

Delaney had two firsts this last weekend.
#1: She attended her very first Bronco football game and watched the Broncos reign victorious over the Idaho State Bengals. Final Score:49-7
We enjoyed tailgating and made it all the way until 1/2 time. This was a little over bedtime and she was tired!
#2: Delaney and I were running errands on Monday, when we returned and I pulled her out of the car seat she was very hot. She sometimes gets a little warm in there, so I put her in the crib for a nap since she was sleepy. When she woke, she was burning up. We took her temperature and sure enough she was running a fever. Her temperature was 102.8. Since she never had a temperature that high, we called the after hours/holiday nurse at our pedi's office. Apparently she had a "low grade" fever. So we gave her tylenol and waited for the fever to break. Finally around 2:30 AM it did. She woke up soaked. I got her comfortable again and put her to sleep.
Such a long Labor Day Weekend!

Wow...it's been a whole month!

Sorry it has been a whole month since I last posted. Delaney is growing so much. She has tried rice cereal and many more "solids": carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, and bananas just to name a few. She is "talking" all the time now. Her little babbles wake us at least once a night. We come to find her just babbling to herself. She also is grabbing for anything and everything within her reach. She is presently sitting in her Bumbo seat on the desk tossing everything onto the floor. What fun!
We are getting excited about football season. It begins this weekend.
In other news, my brother Andy and his wife Heidi found out for sure they were having a little boy today! Landon is due 1/10/09.
I will be flying into Seattle in October to throw a baby shower. So much fun! I am glad that Delaney is going to grow up with a cousin near her age, even if they are apart distance wise!
Today I received a newsletter from her daycare reminding the parents about their Halloween party. Now I have to buy her a cute little costume.
What do you think she should be for her first Halloween?

Four Month Well Baby Visit!

Delaney had her four month visit yesterday with Dr. Archibald. She got five shots again today and did well. She had stopped crying by the time we checked out! We ran into our friends the Dahlberg's and their baby Keaton at the pediatric clinic. My doctor that delivered Delaney, also delivered their baby! He is a busy guy! You can check out their blog below for an update....

Delaney's Four Month Stats:
Weight: 12 lbs. 13oz. (10 lbs. 3.5 oz at 2 months)
Height: 24" (22" at 2 months)
Head circumference: 40 cm (38 cm at 2 months)
Apparently she likes to just go two above whatever her previous appointment was!
She is now in the 25 percentile, so she is running a little smaller than average, but they said most girls fall into that category and she is in line with her previous stats.

Such a big girl now! Dr. Archibald gave us the okay to begin feeding her rice cereal. So we gave it a shot and she loved it. She sucks in the spoon as she is eating, and she ate almost two tablespoons full!

More soon.....

Here are more pictures and a video.

Delaney is almost four months now! Time has really gone by. She has her four month doctor appointment next week on the 29th. This is a big appointment-more shots and her pediatrician will give me the ok (or not) to start her on rice cereal! What a big girl now!

I am really enjoying my new job at Hawkins Companies. I cannot believe I am already starting my fourth week there tomorrow.

Well we hope you enjoy the pictures and video.

Roll over laughing!

Delaney began two big milestones on Thursday, July 3rd! She began to laugh, a little more than just her normal giggles we have been hearing. Then Thursday night, she began rolling over. Jeff had her on the bed and after weeks of almost rolling over, she actually did it. It is so exciting to see her getting so big, but it also means we are waking up to check on her since she rolls over onto her belly constantly during the night. Last night she rolled over so many times and then managed to pull her arm out of her pjs too!

More pictures will be posted soon!

Congratulations Daddy!!!!

Delaney and I would like to officially congratulate Jeff. He passed his PE exam, so he is officially now a Professional Engineer! We knew you had passed after all of your hard work and studying! Congratulations!

So Big!

Delaney is such a big girl now. She has been so well at holding her head up, we couldn't wait to get her into a Bumbo chair. She is close enough to the three month recommendation and she LOVES it!
We also went today and had her pictures taken for her three month birthday. They will be arriving in your mailboxes shortly!

Exciting News!

I got a new job!

A former co-worker of mine (thank you Marcie!) passed along my name and I am going to begin a new position at Hawkins. I will still be working downtown and still keep my current hours which is fantastic! I am very excited about beginning my new job and cannot wait to see what the future holds!

I have a few more pictures of Delaney, I will post them this weekend!

Smack!

Delaney has learned how to smack her lips. Yesterday out of nowhere she started smacking her upper lip and we have no idea where she learned this from. It is hilarious. Maybe we will get a video of it or something. During dinner she was smacking away, checking herself out in the mirror on her swing.

I took some great pictures of Delaney over the weekend, but sorry you will have to wait, some of them are a surprise for Fathers' Day!!

More pictures!

We were finally successful in catching some great pictures of her over the weekend. We got a great smile picture and some of her playing around! Hope you enjoy!

Her cold is finally getting better, Jeff is feeling much better, but I am slowly recovering. Other than that everything is going great.
